Reducing fat in one's diet

Low Fat Diets
Reducing fat from your diet does not mean eating only dry meals or fat-free cookies that lack taste. Find bellow some tips for achieving your goals related to a healthy diet.

What to use: health cookbooks, vegetables, broiler pans, cookware sets, nonstick cooking spray, popcorn poppers, vegetable steamers.

  • Stay away from animal products that are rich in fat, such as red meat, poultry, whole milk, cream or butter. Have fish and the leanest cuts of meat.
  • Find ideas for new recipes from healthy cookbooks.
  • Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits.
  • Replace frying with broiling, baking, steaming or poaching.
  • Don’t use fat or oils for cooking, use cooking sprays instead.
  • Always chose low-fat or fat free alternatives, for instance nonfat yogurt.
  • Chose low-fat cheese and skim milk.
  • When you eat chicken and turkey, remove the skin.
  • Nuts, nut butters and olives are rich in fats, so try to reduce the amount you eat.
  • Chose for snack a fresh fruit or air-popped popcorn.
  • Read the labels on the products and remember that low-calorie doesn’t mean low-fat necessarily.
